The Church of The Virgin of Miracles


It is in a group of country houses just half hour away from downtown Tibacuy. Although the church is less important than Saint Lucia Chapel, it has many visitors on holidays.

Tourists can find places for relaxation and recreation in the town or near to. These offer special food, lodging, sports and entertainment.

Archeolgical Traces



Tibacuy is a place to explore. It is also known as the Hidden Jewel because of its ubication and many interesting  precious places. Currently, archeologists from all around the world come to the town to study the prehispanic engravings, which have both a touristic and historical value.

Mohan's Cave


The cave is in El Quinini, one of the most important natural parks in Colombia, which has exuberant oaks and many bird species. Mohan's Cave was possibly done by the Panche people, a prehispanic culture that dwelt the place. Tourists can go into and have an unforgettable adventure experience.

The Oak Forest



This place, full of millenary oaks, is perfect for camping or just having a deep connection to nature. Walking through all the fallen leaves is a relaxing activity. It is also in the park El Quinini.

Most splendid Dawns & Dusks ever


When the night arrives or the day comes, there is something magic in Tibacuy. Do not miss dawns and dusk, just sit down in the balcony and stare a nature miracle. 

Devil's Stone


It is a huge stone just half an hour from downtown. There is a stairs system that let the visitor climb the rock. On top you will have a spectacular sight to a not less spectacular meseta.




Flora & Fauna


The weather circumstances and the local forests harbor a huge diversity of plant and bird species. There are many species of flowering plants, trees, orchids and palms, which are usually home to different bird varieties.


Tibacuy is sometimes named The Garden Town because of the many colorful gardens surrounding the local villas.

Directions


If you are in Bogota, take the South Freeway. Then, follow the Panamericana Avenue. When you pass a group of houses known as Silvania, turn to the right, just where it indicates the way to Tibacuy.

*The place is located just 2 hours from Bogota City. Use GPS.

 

Education


Public education is provided and managed by the Education Office of Cundinamarca. Tibacuy is served by three public high schools. 

Beautiful Villas



Besides natural and historical places, Tibacuy is famous for its villas. Because of the nearness to the capital city of Colombia, people travel to Tibacuy just for resting in vacation homes. Many retirees have found there the perfect place to live.


Colombian Hollywood


The Tibacuy Sign is situated on a stone high mountain. It is spelled out in huge white capital letters. The landmark was originally created as an advertisement for a local real estate development. Now the sign attracts tourists and sightseers from all over the world.
Because of the sign, Tibacuy has been named the Colombian Hollywood, and curiously enough many Americans and local famous artists have got their holiday homes in the place.

Things to Do

Visit El Quinini


El Quinini has an interesting cave system. This area constitutes archeological sites of the ancestral Panche people. The park spans a wide range of elevations, making them home to many beautiful birds, tree species, and plant species. Hiking is the main park's attraction, with several trails. Other activities include horseback riding, camping, visiting the "Oak Forest," and touring prehispanic preserved engravings on stone.


Discover the Santa Lucia Chapel



Santa Lucia Chapel is the official chuch of the area. The chapel takes its name from Italian martir Lucia. The chapel serves as a place of both religious and tourism activity. The fame of the Santa Lucia Chapel lies mainly in a fresco that decorates the altar, and most particularly the strange architecture.



Climb the Cross Mount



Named for the big cross on the top, this mountain is famous for its stone surface and quiet trail, which make it a paradise for climbers and hikers. Cross Mount also supports a dense population of colorful birds and a variety of plant species.
